We have underestimated the role of support systems. We built and optimized our society on the fragility of transaction-based networks — ones of inputs and outputs where that is all that matters.
In the process, we forgot the essential functions of the enablers, the catalysts, and the caretakers for it all to survive…
From mothers to mentors, coaches to fathers, communities to cultures, we dismissed the power of systems not built around their outcomes but their supporting capabilities that only work as a function of something else.
The dependency is not a burden when it’s not expected to be judged on its individual contributions rather than its collective impact.
And alas in that omission we have set ourselves on a path of destruction. One where we are destined only to consume, be consumed, and eventually burn out.
May it be the time to turn back an eye on the indirect enablers. The ones in the shadows of our being. For a future that hopefully can rejuvenate, replenish, and ultimately flourish.
Until the next ❤️ beat ~.~.~
