What’s the last card you hold?
In every game may that be
~ life in its entirety,
~ your career in its titles and ladders,
~ or your identity in the myriad of psychological cages it holds,
we often find ourselves with cards to play.
The deck might be stacked but in the moments that matter we are usually left with one card to play.
In life that’s usually
… balanced against death.
In career that’s usually
… anchored against jumping ship.
In identity that’s usually
… predicated on getting stuck in one definition that leaves you with no options.
When facing the last card in your hand, what can you do?
Don’t play cards.
Witness the cards. Acknowledge their limitations. And yet don’t play.
Because simply put the cards you think you are playing often are hostage to the same construct which is playing them.
Life is at risk of ending in the most unusual ways often the least expected risk becomes reality.
Career twist and turns on expectations that rarely meet your ambitions, your superiors or even conform to fulfilling your true potential.
Your identity only matures as soon as you become comfortable of it being shattered over and over again so what’s the fuss about.
The only card you will ever hold is a joker — both in the folly it brings and the dynamic ever changing roles it has.
Until the next ❤️ beat ~.~.~
